Description

This is the perfect beginner ride especially for those on smaller bikes and a little more challenging one for those on bigger bikes, but still very manageable. The route starts in Long Preston and follows a combination of country roads and green lanes as it winds it way northwards to Hawes.

It takes in the old Roman road “High Cam Road” which has some small woops on it for the more adventurous rider but otherwise is a good simple gravel road.

It also goes over ‘West Cam Road’ which can be a little challenging on the B6255 side on the ascent, and even for the decent in places but it’s mostly a good fun climb.

The route heads up from Long Preston linking green lanes ith road sections, takes in some lanes in the Yorkshire Dales and then retraces it steps so you can ride some of the same lanes in reverse.

There are plenty of places to stop and enjoy the view, fuel is found in Hawes, and great photo opportunities are plentiful. I would suggest Semerwater carpark for a good backdrop for your bike.
